The territory of Chiaravalle stretches on a surface of 17.33 square kilometres.
In the low Esino Valley, located in the central part of the region of Marche, the urban centre is near the river, at about 6 kilometres from the Adriatic coast, 22 metres over the sea-level. Its flat territory favour crops like fruits, vegetables and cereals.
The climate is quite cold in winter, with poor snowfalls, and very humid in summer.
The population of the town, including the village of Grancetta, is of 13,780 inhabitants.
From the socio-economic point of view, the town is characterised by the presence of the Tobacco Factory and by a tertiarized population.
The demographic growth has been strong in the last 20 years, also as a consequence of the migratory movements after the earthquake of 1972.
People work mainly in the public sector, there are few private companies and workshops.
